Step 1: Prepare the Subfloor
Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Remove any existing flooring and repair any damaged areas.
Step 2: Install the Moisture Barrier
If necessary, lay down a moisture barrier to protect the hardwood from moisture damage. Secure it to the subfloor with tape.
Step 3: Lay the Underlayment
Roll out the underlayment over the moisture barrier. Trim it to fit the room using a utility knife.
Step 4: Acclimate the Ash Hardwood Flooring
Leave the ash hardwood flooring in the room for at least 48 hours to acclimate to the room's temperature and humidity.
Step 5: Plan the Layout
Measure the room and plan the layout of the flooring. Use a chalk line to mark the starting point.
Step 6: Install the First Row
Begin by laying the first row of ash hardwood flooring along the chalk line. Use a pneumatic nailer or hammer and nails to secure the boards to the subfloor.
Step 7: Continue Installing the Flooring
Continue installing the ash hardwood flooring, making sure to stagger the boards for a more visually appealing look. Use a saw to cut the boards to fit around obstacles or at the ends of the rows.
Step 8: Complete the Installation
Once all the flooring is installed, remove any spacers and fill any nail holes with wood filler. Sand the floor to create a smooth surface, and then apply a finish or sealant according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Step 9: Clean Up
Remove any debris and clean the newly installed ash hardwood floor. Enjoy your beautiful new flooring!
